The Day of the Dead or Dia de Los Muertos, is a holiday traditionally celebrated on November 1 and 2, though other days, such as October 31 or November 6, may be included depending on the locality. It is widely observed in Mexico, where it largely developed, and is also observed in other places, especially by people of Mexican heritage. This beauty pays tribute.
A stunning red Rosarita stone (see NOTE below) with a streak of orange running through it, bezel set in fine silver onto a highly textured sterling silver backplate. I added a sugar skull with a crown, two tiny roses and a few leaf stampings. The bail has 3 tiny flowers to continue the celebration. The backside is stamped with my makers mar & sterling and also DIA DE LOS MUERTOS. The pendant measures 2–1/2” from top of the bail the chain threads through x 1-1/4” wide. Sterling Silver Paper Clip Chain is 30” long including clasp, but can be shortened to whatever length you desire. Or it can be substituted for a Rolo style chain. Just let me know in notes.
NOTE: Rosarita is a by-product of gold smelting. Smelting gold is the process of extracting gold from an ore it is combined with. Essentially, when an ore that is gold-bearing gets heated to high temperatures, gold sinks down to the bottom and the non-metals solidify into boulders of red and orange. Red being Rosarita.
